Where is the drama when you know the end of the story before it begins. Is there any chance of mystery or suspense? Do you really believe as an aspiring young performer you stand a chance to be recognized? Is Weaver becoming an playhouse that showcases only the elite "community theater" clique?
As talent that has earned the privilege to attend Weaver, you would think a majority of the students will have opportunities to showcase their talent, beyond their senior year in which parents will shake their heads and say, "I didn't know you could sing like that.."
Search the archives of past performance (just look at the programs). 10-20% of the student population will surface as the chosen ones, while the majority get continuously placed in ensemble. Teachers are well less teachers and more talent coaches and agents.
I'd say we time capsule the past 10 years and in another 10 years recognize who has and who has not succeeded. Odds are that in 2020 the Oscar, Emmy or Tony will go to........ Standing tall this Weaver grad will graciously mention all those behind them, Mom and God at the top of the list. But will Weaver be named? Silence. We can only hope for such drama.
